A Practical Wedding Workshop | Friends, Friday’s and Featured

Education

Friends, Friday’s and Featured is probably one of my favorite blog series that I have started recently, and I wanted to kick it off with a bang with the wonderful Abby Grace!

Two weeks ago, I attended this sweet and darling woman’s A Practical Wedding Workshop. Hands down, I have to tell you all that this was the BEST investment I have made in my photography business to this day. Even better than finally getting my Mark III last week! Seriously though, if you have the chance to attend one of Abby Grace’s workshops, it will be a game changer

There are several reasons why this workshop stands out from the rest, but I wanted to share a few of them with you…maybe this will help you convince yourself you need this workshop even more…

1) Abby Grace is the sweetest woman on the planet. If that isn’t reason enough, she hosts this workshop in her home and makes you feel like it is right where you belong. She provides some pretty amazing FOOD! Two meals with this woman was a blessing, but I cannot get enough of her. You should know that by now though.

2) The next reason why this workshop stands out is because she literally, and I mean LITERALLY walks you through a wedding day. It’s like second shooting, but it’s alright if you have questions and you can have do-overs! This was a really big part of it for me because yes, I’ve second shot weddings before and even done my own weddings, but I can’t just sit there and tell the bride “Hold on one second while I look up how to ‘blah blah blah'”. Haha, you just can’t do that. So this was why I LOVED this part of the workshop. We got to sit down and go over every. single. portion. of a wedding day and how she goes about getting it all done. We could even ask questions for each section as long as they pertained to the subject at hand!

3) Another reason why I loved this workshop is because it fits my style very well. I would never compare myself to Abby Grace in a million years, but out of everyone that I look up to, I would definitely have to say that her style is the most similar to what I adore. However, there are very clear differences as well, and that is good! You need to be able to find your own style – not copy someone else’s! I love how my style is very elegant, classic, and opulent…it speaks very well to a Baltimore, Richmond, or D.C. bride! Oh, and don’t even get me started on the monuments….

4) Okay, we’ve gotten off-topic. The last reason that I want to share with you all (but trust me, there is more) is the fact that this workshop is geared towards wedding photographers alone. Yes, you can attend and learn a million things if you have never shot a wedding before, but I love the fact that it isn’t a “general” workshop. You don’t discuss posing babies, seniors, or families – you ONLY discuss weddings and your relationship with the couple.

Alright, I’m sure you have heard enough of my raving on Abby for today….so here are some of the images I wanted to share with you all from the workshop! Enjoy!

Xoxo

Beautiful work! I always try to get to 1-3 workshops each year. It’s always a great learning experience, and we often get some new, amazing imagery for our portfolios, but I think it is the connection that we make with other photographers that makes the investments worthwhile. I’ll definitely have to add Abby Grace of my list of possible workshops for the future. Thanks for sharing.

Beautiful images you got there from the workshop! It’s great to go to workshops that you actually learn from and it’s pretty cool that this one was geared towards wedding only… I bet you learned a lot!
