find me elsewhere

Hi there! Welcome to the blog, a journal about my life, weddings, portraits, our home, and more. Stay a while and say hello!

Kaitlin + Justin

Have you ever met one of those couples who just stand out among the rest for one reason that may seem little, but is the world to you? Kaitlin and Justin are that couple for me. I can see myself being best friends with these two for the rest of my life and that is only after spending one afternoon with them. Can you imagine a lifetime?! I want to!

Kaitlin and Justin are probably one of the cutest couples I have ever met. And boy, did I learn and LOVE all about their love story last week?! These two sweethearts have been dating for what seems a millennium! Not really, but they might as well have been. The cutest thing I’ve ever heard – “We were middle school sweethearts. Not even high school, middle school.” If you aren’t crying now, go grab the tissues. Justin and Kaitlin sparked their middle school romance in an exploratory class where they just happened to be the last two on the roster and had to sit together. They didn’t get to sit with two other people like the rest of the class! Fortunately, this forced them to get to know each other and finally dump their other significant other’s in their lives so they could move on to each other! So cute!

Even after middle school, these two grew together and learned more about each other than they had ever learned about another person in their lives! They knew there was something special there that they would never find in anyone else. Boy am I glad they found each other because their love only reassures the fact that you don’t have to live close to each other to reaffirm your love for one another every single day.

Kaitlin and Justin are currently in college – Kaitlin is at the University of Mary Washington, where I am happy to FINALLY announce that I will be attending in the Spring. Even though we will only be there for one semester together, I know it’s going to be the best! Justin currently attends VCU, where I was planning on attending, but decided that going to a school close to home where I can major in Business would be the best decision. These two are worlds apart, yet Justin still managed to surprise Kaitlin AT SCHOOL and pop that special question earlier this year.

Justin planned with Kaitlin’s best friends for the cutest proposal of all. I don’t have any photos of it, but if you know Kaitlin, I’m sure you saw some adorable cell phone pictures of it! Justin got her best friends together who led her blind-folded out of a car where she saw Justin’s feet and became immediately confused! They all huddled together and each had a sign that spelled out “Will You Marry Me?” and she was SO shocked! She literally had NO idea that this was coming! It was her birthday and friends had been acting pretty weird, but she just assumed it was because they were hiding something birthday-related, not Justin related (seen as Justin had came to celebrate the day before and had ‘left’ to go back to VCU already).

This girl is seriously the most devoted woman I know when it comes to wedding planning. And with that being said, I really mean that she cared SO much who her wedding photographer was that she contacted me FIVE days after she got engaged. Not even a week. This girl is my dream girl and I’m so happy to know her and Justin! Talk about an ideal client. Kaitlin, I love you girl! Congratulations Justin and Kaitlin!! I cannot WAIT for your wedding in 23 months!! It is going to be the best!!

This is such a cute engagement session! I love that they worked their love of baseball into a portrait of their session. And that ring!! Seriously though – you did a fantastic job with this engagement session! They look completely at ease in front of the lens…and ridiculously in love, of course! Beautiful work!!
