The Couple
With Jenny being a nurse, it was definitely not the easiest task for these two to find time to spend together. I still can’t believe these two have known each other since they were teenagers where they were both lifeguards together at Cameron Run Regional Park! I absolutely adore high school sweetheart stories.
When Jenny & Howie first contacted me through The Knot (and boy, that is not common!), they spoke of how much they loved Old Hickory Golf Club and it brought me back to Lindsey and Clay’s wedding from last year. That was definitely one of my all-time favorite weddings from 2015, so I just knew that I would adore Jenny & Howie’s wedding no matter what. THEN they told me how they were getting married at their family church and I just knew it was a perfect fit. There’s just something about an intimate wedding at a church that every grew up in that makes me feel right at home.
Jenny & Howie got engaged in Georgetown at sunset and I about died when Jenny added me on Facebook so I could see the pics. GORGEOUS. Georgetown is so romantic and classic and I absolutely love walking up and down the canals. I also adore eating at Farmers Fishers Bakers – if you haven’t been, it is sooooo worth checking out.
The Wedding
The day started out at Howie & Jenny’s home in Springfield with some sweet gift exchanges between Jenny and her mother. As they did their hair and makeup, her bridesmaids reminisced on the sweet moments from high school and grade school and how excited they were for me to be photographing their best friend’s wedding. They told me that when Jenny booked with me and received her bridal guide months down the road, she shared it with all of their friends and they couldn’t believe what a useful piece of information she got from her photographer! When I started doing the bridal guides, I never expected the praise I would get from them and I am so honored to have helped so many of my brides plan their day and remember the small things.
After the girls finished their hair and makeup, we headed on over to the church for the two lovebirds to say “I Do”! Let me tell you – boy, it was a gorgeous church and I could shoot there for every wedding. The lighting was amazing and they did the decorations so well. As Jenny walked up the aisle to her man, I couldn’t help but tear up at how excited they were to see each other. After waiting so long to see each other, that moment was finally here!
The Reception
At the reception, one of my favorite aspects was the wedding favors they had. And man, they were delicious! They were little jars filled with Hershey kisses with a picture of their puppy on them. Hugs & Kisses from the Mr. & Mrs. Their DJ kept the party on their feet the entire night and that is definitely something I appreciate. Getting to watch people dance the night away and celebrate the love of two sweet souls is one very special blessing. Congratulations Jenny & Howie – I will always love looking back on your wedding photos and hope you will too!
