The Couple
Historic Downtown Leesburg engagement sessions hold a special place in my heart. Leesburg is an absolutely beautiful town, with so many different backdrops to make for such a diverse session! When Taylor first inquired with me through my contact form, I knew I was so excited to get to know them. Why? I felt so connected to their story from the first sentence. They got engaged on Christmas Eve – a holiday engagement, just like our engagement!! I am dying for their wedding day… Why? Because they are getting married at Blue Hill Farm and it is SOOOO gorgeous and I just cannot wait to photograph these two sweethearts there!!
I just know their wedding day is going to be so epic, but until then, I can’t wait for you to get to know these two!! Taylor is from Virginia, and met Joseph while he was stationed in Virginia (he’s in the Airforce) via Tinder. They currently live in Texas (so crazy that I have so many Texas couples!!). Luckily for Taylor, Joseph was the first person she met up with that she matched with on Tinder. They met up at a Starbucks and ended up chatting for hours. The rest is history y’all!!
The Proposal
Last Christmas (2018), they were home for the holidays and went to their church service on Christmas Eve. Joseph convinced Taylor that he had a stomach ache so he was able to stay home to prepare for the proposal. He told Taylor that he was just going to wait for them while they were gone and relax to feel better. While they were gone for the Christmas service, he spent the entire time decorating. He set up tea light candles throughout the backyard that spelled out “Marry Me?”. By the time Taylor and her family got back home, Joseph took her out to the backyard where she could see all of the lights. She was in complete shock when he proposed, and of course, said yes!!
The Session
We ultimately decided on Leesburg because Taylor grew up there so it felt like home! When we scheduled their session, we scheduled it for December 29th. This is because that was the only time they’d both be back in Virginia before their wedding day. My due date for having Brayden was December 13th, but I was optimistic that he would come early or right on time. Well, we all know how that went… I was induced on the 18th and had him the morning of the 19th. I’m stubborn and extremely optimistic, so I kept our plans on for the engagement session! However, it ended up being no big deal shooting 10 days postpartum, who knew?!
I’m super grateful that my in-laws were in town! They were able to stay home with Colby to watch Brayden while I was away for their session. We started the session near the courthouse and ventured throughout the town. We found so many cute brick and stone walls that made for beautiful backdrops. I were also very surprised as to how many trees were still alive. This gave us so many opportunities to take photos with greenery! We found a gorgeous church with these bold red doors, a cute little house with those teal doors, and even a field on the outskirts of town.
I had the time of my life finally getting to know these two in person. It was completely worth and wouldn’t change it for the world! I definitely got a killer workout walking all around downtown Leesburg with these two in the freezing cold though! We didn’t need to go to the gym for the next 3 days after this session, haha!
