This Middleburg Virginia Engagement session is one for the books!! When Jennifer’s email came through in my inbox, I immediately knew we were going to be the perfect fit. Why? Because I could just sense the excitement she felt about getting to marry the man of her dreams. I was so amazed by their story because they had worked at the same place for over 6 years before they were finally assigned to work at the same location. When Tom was assigned to a project that required Jennifer’s help, she refused! I thought that was absolutely HILARIOUS!! After exchanging numbers, Tom finally asked Jennifer out a month later. All thanks to that sick coworker that resulted in them having to pick up the slack. 😉
Jennifer and Thomas got engaged on December 22nd! 3 days after Brayden was born – we actually got to go home from the hospital that very day!! When I met Jennifer a few months ago, she actually showed me the video from their proposal and I almost cried!! It was SO sweet. SO many tears. Tom had planned everything himself and only ONE other person knew about it – his best friend who lives down the street from them.
Their neighborhood had planned a “traveling” Christmas party. I had never heard of this before, but it’s such a cute idea! They live in a new housing development that is very close-knit with each other. Because of this, there were 7 houses that they spent an hour at for their traveling Christmas party. Apparently, earlier that day, Tom had left to finish ‘Christmas shopping’…he was actually picking up her ring from the jewelers!! Tom and Jen’s house actually ended up being the first stop on the tour of the traveling Christmas party. They had appetizers and a signature drink, with about 20 people in attendance. Tom and Jen were trying SO hard to get a photo with their sweet pup for Christmas. After they were FINALLY successful, Tom said “OK, one more picture”, and got down on one knee. Jen had NO idea it was coming!!
When Jen and I started to plan their Middleburg Virginia engagement session, she brought up the idea of doing the session at their house and in the town that they live near! I jumped at the idea because I just cannot get enough of personalized engagement sessions. Whenever my couples want to do something that is special to them and actually has meaning behind the location, it warms my heart. Their house is everything to them and they have worked so hard to make it their home. Jen has a true talent for decorating and DIY-ing her house! I’ve become a little obsessed about stalking her decorating ideas via Instagram. Right before the session, she had finished a hallway leading into the house from their garage and it turned out SO good. It was even better to see in person when I arrived for their session!
This post is definitely not about their home, but I could go on and on about how amazing it looked. I need her to come decorate our house next, haha! We started the session in the woods behind their house with Bailey (their sweet pup) and we had a blast. That girl has some serious energy and it was so fun getting to see these two so comfortable in their element. One of their favorite things to do is be at home and play with Bailey. We took pictures on the front porch, and I just HAD to get a wide shot of their home. It is just SO beautiful!!
Once we finished up at home, we ventured in downtown Middleburg where they go on date nights often. We stayed on Main Street for the majority of the time, but we did venture off of one of the side streets and found these GORGEOUS blooms!! How beautiful are these pretty trees?! I’m not the best with flowers so I’m not quite sure if they’re dogwoods or cherry blossoms or what, but they made for some beautiful portraits! I cannot wait to photograph these two again for their wedding in October at the gorgeous Birkby House in Leesburg, Virginia. Congratulations lovebirds!!
