We’ve done the homework for you so you don’t have to! We compiled this wonderful list to make finding the best date night option as easy as possible. We specialize in photographing families who are expecting or have young children. Because of this, our date night ideas are geared towards expecting/pregnant couples! We know how exhausting life can be while pregnant and truly believe that you should take the time to date your spouse again before you add another member to your family! π With that being said, before you decide what you’re going to do for a date night, we broke down a few key questions that are often asked!
What Can a Couple Do on a Date Night?
There are SO many different things that expecting parents can do for a date night. Some of these ideas include:
A Couple’s Massage:
There are many different opportunities for prenatal massages in the area, and if you ask, a lot of them will allow your husband to get a massage in the room at the same time! You’re exhausted and sore enough as it is, so why not get pampered while also fitting in some time for romance?
Go to the Movies:
An oldie, but a goodie. We have many different movie theaters in the area that offer full-service movie experiences. There are 21+ sections with a more private selection of seats. Although you can’t enjoy the booze quite yet, a private seating arrangement does sound nice, am I right? π
Have a staycation:
Call your babysitter (if you already have children) and enjoy a night in without the stress of taking care of the house and/or kids. Order some takeout and binge watch your favorite show or rent a romantic movie!
Satisfy those cravings:
Every pregnancy comes with its cravings. Why not take advantage of that and indulge in those cravings? With the best bakeries, ice cream shops, and more in the area, there’s something for every pregnant mama.
Go out to dinner:
Luckily, we live in one of the best areas for food in the state. Whether you’re craving fine dining, pizza, Chinese, or something unique, you’ll find an option nearby.
Get a pedicure together:
The first time my husband ever joined me for a pedicure, he was so skeptical. However, we now make it a routine date night with each other and he loves how soft his feet feel afterwards! And can we all agree that there’s no pregnant mama on this Earth that would turn down a good foot massage?
Get Maternity Photos Taken:
One of my clients’ favorite parts of working with me is that our full-service maternity portrait experience includes professional hair & makeup. Lots of our clients love being able to get these precious and intimate moments captured with us. The best part? They’re all dolled up and can go out for a date night after their photo session!
Go Out for Mocktails:
The one downside of being pregnant is the lack of our favorite alcoholic beverages. However, there has thankfully been so many advancements in the spirit-free industry that you’ll love them just as much!
Go to a Concert:
Since you’re adding a new baby to the family soon, this might be the last time you have an opportunity to see some live music for a while. Crying babies, crowds, and live music don’t usually mix very well, haha!
Take a Class Together:
The obvious answer to this might be a baby class, but I was actually thinking something a little more fun! You can take an art class, learn to cook, paint, etc.
Go for a Hike:
I’d aim to do this idea a little earlier in pregnancy than later. π Luckily, we don’t live too far from the beautiful Shenandoah National Park! There are also quite a few local options too.
Have a Babymoon:
Traveling while pregnant is usually easier in the first trimester or early second trimester. It’s usually not recommended to travel later than that. However, if you want to, you can do a local babymoon! We live in such an exciting part of the country that there are so many different options. You can go to Charlottesville and do a wine tour… You can visit Middleburg, Leesburg, Richmond, etc.
Go See a Comedian:
There are many opportunities to see comedy in the area, and this is the perfect date night idea to relieve some stress! Laughter heals everything, right?
Go to the Ballet:
We luckily live in an area surrounded by many opportunities to appreciate art. The Kennedy Center is such a romantic date night and their performances are unforgettable.
