The Couple
Jenny and Howie have a special kind of love that you just want everyone to witness. The way Howie speaks of her and cares for her is an old-fashioned kind of love and they are just so inspiring! I loved getting to know these two over the past years through their engagement and their wedding day.
Jenny and Howie met when they were teenagers – how sweet is that?! I love when young couples stay together for so long and then finally get married after so many years. I feel like it makes the wedding just that much more special. It’s a day that everyone seems to have been expecting for what seems a millennium. Jenny and Howie’s wedding day was so special because of that and you could just see it on everyone’s face at the end of the ceremony. They were all officially one big happy family even though that had lived their lives for years like that anyways! It’s always so exciting when it’s actually official!! 🙂
The Session
Their wedding day was last May and was the perfect Spring wedding! Last May was so crazy and there was SO much rain, but it held off for these two! Ironically, the same thing decided to happen for their anniversary photos this year. There wasn’t a drop of rain scheduled in the four weather apps we looked through days before their session and then towards the end of the session, we felt a sprinkle. It literally came out of nowhere!! Thank goodness I teach my couples four key poses at engagement sessions so it’s super easy to get all of their portraits done quickly on the wedding day! Because of this, it allows their anniversary sessions to be even easier. I love how natural anniversary sessions are because by the time it comes for them, we’ve worked together once or twice before and it’s second-nature for them!
That was exactly the case for Jenny and Howie. We started out on the cobblestone streets with their sweet pup, Buster!! How adorable is that little guy?! He cooperated SO well and we were so proud of him – he got so much love from his parents when they got home!! We are so thankful for Mary who came along to the session as well and played with Buster while we took some photos of just Jenny and Howie! Thank you, Mary!! 🙂 We decided to do the session in Old Town Alexandria and it just so happened to be where they grew up together and lifeguarded together at Cameron Run Regional Park! How perfect is that?!
Happy anniversary Jenny and Howie! It was so amazing getting to see you two again and I can’t wait to watch your love and marriage grow every year! 🙂
