Messicks Farm Market (Bealeton, VA): Messicks is SO much fun and we bring our boys here every year! They have a fall festival that includes a corn maze, hayride, barrel train, zip line, bounce pillow, candy cannon, pumpkin patch, crunchkin painting, kid tattoos, duck races, and more!

Graves Mountain Apple Harvest Festival (Syria, VA): At Graves Mountain, you can experience a farm with goats, pigs, and calves! There’s also a donkey ride, hayrides, pumpkins, gourds, and fresh farm apple cider! YUM! They have their own hard cider, preserves, apple butter, AND apple donuts! They even have live bluegrass music on specific dates!

Gaver Farm (Mt Airy, MD): They have a cow train, country cruisers, gem mining, pedal karts, pick your own pumpkins & apples, food, and more!

Vienna Oktoberfest (Vienna, VA): Come for loads of food, vendors, music & entertainment, kid’s activities, and of course, great beer and wine!

MPA Artfest (McLean, VA): McLean Central Park is transformed into a lively landscape of mini art galleries! They have food vendors, musical talents, a Children’s art Walk, and more!

City of Fairfax Fall Festival (Fairfax, VA): There’s over 400 arts, crafts, information, food & gourmet food vendors, and children’s activities. They also have three stages of music and entertainment!

Clifton Day Festival (Clifton, VA): This takes place on October 8th from 9am-5pm. It features 150 artisans, antique dealers, vintage sellers, and other vendors. There’s music, children’s activities, pony rides, beer/wine garden, and delicious food!

Mount Vernon Fall Harvest Festival (Mount Vernon, VA): You can meet General Washington, purchase 18th style fresh food, sample local brewery beers, and more.

Apple Picking Orchards/Farms

Stribling Orchard (Markham, VA) – This is actually run by family members of one of my past brides! Their property is absolutely stunning and a must-see!

Carters Mountain (Charlottesville, VA): An all-time favorite! Even if you’re DC, MD, or Northern VA, Carter’s is worth the drive! Go taste their amazing apple cider & donuts while you pick your own apples! They also have the cutest store and have local hard cider from Bold Rock!

Hollins Farms (Delaplane, VA): They have a variety of pick-your-own fruits and vegetables and are located next to Sky Meadows State Park in Fauquier County.

Mackintosh Fruit Farm (Winchester, VA): Open weekly from Thursday-Saturday 8am-6pm and 10am-6pm on Sundays! Pick your own apples and have lunch from their local kitchen! Their farm was the inspiration for a children’s picture book, so your kids can enjoy a companion coloring book and crayons! They also have a cider room!

Great Country Farms (Bluemont, VA): They aren’t your average apple orchard! Ride the cow train, go through the giant mazes, hop on the pumpkin jumping pillow, pet goats, go fishing, and much more!

Hartland Orchard (Markham, VA): Open from 9am-2pm Monday-Friday and 9am-4pm Saturday & Sunday. You can pick apples in September & October!

Marker-Miller Orchards Farm Market (Winchester, VA): You can pick your own Golden delicious, red delicious, Ida red, Crispin, Rome, Cameo, Nittany, and Stayman apples! They also have a variety of other apples in the market. You can relax on the front porch in the rocking chairs and enjoy the gorgeous mountain scenery. They also have picnic tables so you can pack a lunch or purchase food from their building!

Valley View Farm (Delaplane, VA): Craft beverages and a pick your own orchard all in one! You can pick apples, pears & pumpkins in September & October.

Cox Farms (Centreville, VA): Cox Farms has it all! A milking demo, farm chores, numerous slides for all ages, fun tunnels, hayride, and a music stage! They also have foamhenge, swings, a corn maze, a kiddie zone, goat feeding/petting, a mining area, tractors, and so much more.

Pumpkin Village at Leesburg Animal Park (Leesburg, VA): Giant hill slides, moon bounces, wagon rides, petting zoo, pedal carts, the corn bin, weekend entertainment, and so much more!

Wegmeyer Farms (Hamilton, VA): They have over 50 varieties of pumpkins, so there’s something for everyone! You can pick your own or you can selected from their pre-picked options. They also have gourds, cornstalks, and mums!

Reston Farm Garden Market Fall Fest (Reston, VA): They’re open Saturdays & Sundays September 23rd through October 29th, as well as Monday, October 9th. They have loads of fun, games, activities, pumpkins, music, and more! There’s bounce houses, train rides, the garden market, a petting zoo, and a free pumpkin for each paid child’s ticket! You can also enjoy lovely options such as face painting, balloons, animal feeding, apple cider donuts, apple cider, and obviously pumpkin picking.

Krop’s Crops Fall Fun (Great Falls, VA): Hayrides, pumpkin picking, Winchester apples, fresh-pressed apple cider, and fall squash and gourds. There’s also farm animals and a corn bin to play in!

Hidden Gems Farm (Centreville, VA): Pick your own pumpkins and play with the goats! All of their products are pesticide & hormone free, organically grown, locally grown/made, and 100% full of flavor! They also have goat milk-based products (ice cream, goat cheese, soaps, etc) made in-house with fresh Goat milk. In the winter, come back for their walk-through light show!

Burke Nursery & Garden Center (Burke, VA): Enjoy the outdoors amid pumpkins and Halloween-inspired backdrops to pick your own pumpkin! They also have apple cider donuts, pumpkins, apples, gourds, local honey, jams, jellies, pickles, and SO much more!
